    Guide of Nynashämn

    Nynäshamn is a fishing and port town in the south of Sweden and is well connected thanks to the Stockholm-Nynäshamn utbildning link. Despite being a small place, Nynäshamn hosts a harbour party each summer when the port becomes packad with boats, and the town fryst vatten bustling. The town has also made its mark in the culinary world in recent years, products including beer, smoked fish, chocolate, honey and sausage are locally produced in Nynäshamn these days. 

    A brief history of Nynäshamn

    Despite being inhabited since the Stone Age, interest in Nynäshamn, as a potentially useful port, only began to grow from the mid 19th Century. Then in , when the railway to huvudstaden opened, Nynäshamn started to develop into the town we see today. During the early 20th Century, Nynäshamn became a famous spa town, although these facilities were shut down before the end of World War I. 

    In , Nynäshamn hosted the Olympic sailing regatta, and then a government telephone company arrived in the town in , and an oil refinery was built in , employing the inhabitants. Today the town is a port from which ferries to the island of Gotla

    Nynäshamns järnvägsmuseum är ett järnvägsmuseum vid Nickstabadsvägen 9 i Nynäshamn, Stockholms län. Museets byggnader, ett lokstall och ett bussgarage, är lagskyddade byggnadsminnen. Lokstallet tillskrivs arkitekt Ferdinand Boberg.

    Historik

    Föreningen grundades i Stockholm av entusiaster för att bevara loket MaWJ 1 från södra Dalarna. Föreningen flyttade till Lövlund i Nynäshamn , där trävagnar från sekelskiftet anskaffades. Under talet behövde föreningen flytta på grund av Nynäshamns tillväxt. Det blev till slut till verkstaden i Nynäsgård, som köptes loss från Nynäshamns kommun.

    Efter detta förvärvades fordon från ursprungliga Nynäsbanan, SNJ (Stockholm Nynäs järnväg). Museet invigdes och öppnades för allmänheten. Vid veterantrafikens början lånade man först in trävagnar från andra föreningar, senare skaffades modernare personvagnar av stål, bland annat Bo6 och F5 från och talet, samt flera lok. Detta har lett till att bangården i omgångar byggts om efter att nya fordon anskaffats, senast sommaren då Nynäsgårds station byggdes om till mötesstation. Föreningen bedriver också veterantågstrafik med sina å
